You’ve heard about AI. You’ve heard about all the opportunities and risks it brings to the table. You’ve heard about the massive efforts that governments all around the world are making to lead its development, to regulate it, to implement it in their economies.

 

But you have probably not heard much from us, the youth. We are by far the demographic group that uses AI the most. We are the first generation whose information (professional, social and even private) can be accessed with just a few clicks. We are the generation that will have to deal with the massive implications that AI automation will have in the labor market. We are the generation that will be impacted the most by the decisions that are being made today. And yet, you have probably not heard much from us.

 

This is why we have launched the Student Center for European AI. We are the first youth-oriented European-based AI think tank. We are joining forces with young researchers all across the EU in order to have the youth join the discussion. Our interdisciplinary team offers quality research on the topics that affect the youth the most. From algorithmic bias to job substitution; from the cognitive impact of AI on the youth to the political polarization that recommendation algorithms favor. Young voices should be heard, for they can feed into their work their everyday experiences and the perspective of a generation that deals with constant and rapid change.
